We use them interchangeably every single day. “My aim is to be healthier,” you tell a friend. Or, “My goal is to run a 5K by October.” They sound like synonyms, linguistic cousins meant to spice up a sentence so you don’t repeat yourself.

Think of it this way: An aim is your compass, while a goal is your destination.
